Existing smart meter: keep or replace?
An existing measuring device is not automatically suitable for both Solarbank 4 and STREAM 5000. Check the exact meter model, the region, and the current manufacturer's approval. A visible reading in an app does not necessarily prove that the storage can be controlled this way.
This is particularly important for Shelly: The deutsche Anker-FAQ for Solarbank 4 The Shelly 3EM and Shelly Pro 3EM are listed. However, EcoFlow currently states in its STREAM 5000 FAQ that the Shelly Pro 3EM is not supported. Approval from one manufacturer does not apply to another.
Three connections, three different questions
Separate the energy flow, measured values, and control commands directly in your sketch. This will help you identify whether a missing cable affects the power supply, data transmission, or just an optional function. The shape of a connector alone is not sufficient for this purpose.
Within the EcoFlow model delimitation The difference is clear: STREAM 5000 has PV inputs, STREAM AC 5000 does not. Therefore, instructions for connecting the PV inputs to the first device cannot be used as a wiring diagram for the AC model.
| Area | Question to be clarified | Insufficient evidence |
|---|---|---|
| PV and AC cables | For which device, which connection and which operating mode is the cable intended? | Externally matching plug |
| Measuring connection | Which meter records which circuit, and are the readings up-to-date? | A single app screenshot without a timestamp |
| Controller | Which functions are explicitly supported for this model, firmware, and region? | The measured values are visible somewhere |
Local measured values do not yet constitute free memory control.
Anker confirmed for the “Smart Meter Gen 2“Local access for Home Assistant via Modbus TCP or TCP/IP. This statement refers to the meter. It does not constitute a general authorization for arbitrary write commands to the solar bank or access to all device functions.”
Example for troubleshooting: The display shows 0 W, but the timestamp is several minutes old. First, note the time, data source, and affected measurement point. An old zero reading does not prove that no power is currently being drawn or fed into the grid. Therefore, do not change any protection or power settings experimentally.
When looking at the meter offer, also read about the CT equipment.
The offer "Anker Solix Smart meter Gen.2 3-phase for Solarbank 4 & MAX ACThe Mini Power meter includes a 63A three-CT cable assembly. For additional, separate measurements, further compatible CT equipment must be obtained from the scope of delivery. Therefore, do not purchase the meter based solely on the product photo.
Before ordering, the electrical contractor should determine which circuits need to be monitored and which meter type is suitable. Work inside the distribution box is not a task for a product or remote instructions. The following product selection refers exclusively to the confirmed [specific requirements/consultations]. Anker-Application, not on EcoFlow.
A brief handover saves on follow-up questions.
The Anker-Instructions for the Smart Meter Gen 2 The specific model number should be included in your records. Also note the firmware version and test date. This way, if an app or device combination changes later, you can see which information needs to be re-verified.
- Write out the storage and counter model in full; do not abbreviate STREAM and STREAM AC.
- Name each cable you need according to its function, not just by length or connector appearance.
- Document app display, timestamp and error image without changing electrical connections.
Select memory without skipping the measurement chain
Der "Mini Power Memory Finder“This can then help with product selection. Only transfer a result to the order once the meter, required cables, and installation scope for the exact combination have been confirmed.”
Keep the documents for later error comparison.
Save the verified model name along with the manufacturer's date. Additionally, note which values you expect to see in which app. This will help distinguish between a changed display and a missing measurement if a reading is missing after an update.
For the Anker-counter belongs to the Model-specific instructions Regarding this documentation: Have the specialist company specify the measuring points and CT equipment used. Any future expansion can then be checked against this specific starting point, instead of guessing the system based on individual photos.
