Weather and Reality: How the Climate Affects the Performance of Your Solarbank 3 Pro

The Solar Bank 3 Pro Anker's is one of the most popular balcony power stations on the market—compact, efficient, with integrated storage and smart app control. But many users are asking themselves: Why does performance fluctuate so much? And what does the weather have to do with it?

In this blog post we explain how temperature, solar radiation, cloud cover, rain and snow affect the actual power production of your Solarbank 3 Pro influence – and how you can make the most of your system to to achieve maximum returns.

Cold weather, strong performance: Solarbank 3 Pro at low temperatures

Many users report that their Solarbank 3 Pro in clear winter weather delivers more watts than the specified module nominal power (e.g., 385 W). Values like 415 W or even 448 W appear in the app.

Why?
Photovoltaic modules have a so-called Temperature coefficientsThe colder the module, the higher its voltage—and thus its power. This means: On sunny, cold days, the Solarbank 3 Pro can temporarily generate more energythan stated in the data sheet.

Example: At an outside temperature of -5 °C and in direct sunlight, a 385 W module can realistically deliver up to 440 W – without any manipulation.

What happens in cloudy weather? Solarbank 3 Pro in diffuse light

Many people believe that solar modules only work in direct sunlight. This is not entirely true. Solarbank 3 Pro also uses diffuse light, which is scattered by clouds.

On cloudy days the yield decreases – but often it remains at 20–40% of maximum performance, depending on cloud density, time of day, and angle of inclination. Even in light or high fog, the solar bank still delivers usable energy.

Tip: If you Solarbank 3 Pro balance power consumption should ensure that the installation is as free as possible – even in the diffuse light area.

Rain, snow, shade: How balcony power plants react

Rain: It temporarily reduces performance due to weak sunlight. At the same time, it cleans the modules, which improves the Solarbank 3 Pro's efficiency in the long term.

Snow: Completely covered modules block light → 0 W output. However, reflective snow on the ground increases the amount of diffused light. Furthermore, snow often slides off quickly when installed at a steep angle.

shadows: One of the biggest efficiency killers! Even Small partial shading can significantly reduce the Solarbank 3 Pro yieldbecause the modules are connected in series.

Firmware & Display: Why does my solar bank show more watts?

Some users are surprised by the particularly high values in the Anker app – sometimes even over 110% of the rated power.

In fact, the display also depends on the firmware:

  • Show version 1.18 or 1.20 slight overperformance on (especially during active charging)

  • Version 1.24 shows more realistic data

Suggestion:
Update firmware regularly and analyze your daily performance – ideally with hourly log data. This is the only way to get a clear picture of your Solar bank 3 per daily production.

Conclusion: Weather is not an obstacle – but a tool

The Power production of your Solarbank 3 Pro is dynamic, weather-dependent and seasonal fluctuations – this is completely normal. Understanding the weather allows you to make better use of your system and optimize yields.

Whether winter or summer – the Solarbank 3 Pro delivers in almost any weather. Provided you pay attention to location, angle, shading, and current firmware.
