Hoymiles HMT-1600-1800-2000-4T Description

The HMT-2000-4T from Hoymiles is a powerful three-phase output microinverter designed for demanding photovoltaic applications in residential, commercial and industrial applications.

With two independent MPP trackers and four inputs, the device delivers a maximum output power of up to 2000 VA. The recommended module power of 400 W to over 670 W per module enables optimal energy yield, even with high-performance modules. The HMT-2000-4T is particularly suitable for systems where efficiency, longevity, and safety are paramount.

Note: This is a three-phase inverter and not suitable for use on balconies. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Product features:

  • --Three-phase mains output for stable energy supply to high-performance systems

  • --4-in-1 system design: Connection of up to four PV modules to one device

  • --Two MPP trackers to maximize yield under different module conditions

  • --High efficiency of up to 96,5%

  • --Integrated mains protection relay and galvanic isolation for increased operational safety

  • --Sub-1G communication technology for stable data transmission

  • --Compatible with S-Miles App and S-Miles Cloud; a DTU Lite-S is required for system monitoring

  • --Complies with current standards: VDE-AR-N 4105:2018, EN 50549-1:2019 and others

  • --Robust, weatherproof housing according to IP67 protection class, suitable for outdoor use up to +65 °C

  • --12-year manufacturer's warranty (details under manufacturer information)

Reliability through decentralized architecture
Microinverters offer greater system stability than conventional central inverters. Their modular structure ensures that failures only affect the affected module, not the entire PV system. The HMT-2000-4T is designed for continuous operation under demanding conditions.

Hoymiles HMS-1600 / 1800 / 2000-4T Microinverters Questions & Answers

For which applications are the Hoymiles HMS-1600 / 1800 / 2000-4T microinverters suitable?

These microinverters are ideal for small to medium-sized photovoltaic systems, especially for balcony power plants or mini-PV systems. Thanks to their compact design and flexible mounting options, they can be used even in limited space. Each inverter supports the connection of up to four solar modules.

What output power do the individual models offer?

The models differ in their maximum output power:
HMS-1600-4T: up to 1600 VA
HMT-1800-4T: up to 1800 VA
HMS-2000-4T: up to 2000 VA
All devices provide stable alternating current for feeding into the household grid or public grid.

Which solar modules can be connected?

The inverters are compatible with a wide range of solar modules. Typically, the following module power ratings can be optimally utilized:
HMS-1600-4T: 320-540 Wp per module
HMT-1800-4T: 360-600 Wp per module
HMS-2000-4T: 400-670 Wp per module

What does the “4T” in the model name mean?

The "4T" stands for four independent MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracker) inputs. Each input regulates the connected module string individually, enabling maximum energy yield even in partial shade or with different module orientations.

Can the devices be throttled to 800 watts?

Yes, all three models support power limitation. This allows the output power to be reduced to, for example, 800 watts to comply with legal requirements for balcony power plants. Throttling is done via software.

When optimizing energy harvesting with the retrofit optimizer for Tigo ES and 2ES series or first generation smart modules (JES series), one maximizer must be used for all modules connected to the same inverter string. The system is so cost effective that you can get an excellent return on investment with the maximizer built into each module.

How reliable is energy generation in low light?

All devices have a very low start-up voltage of just 22 volts. This means they begin producing power even when sunlight is low, which is particularly beneficial in the morning and evening hours.

What protection class and certifications do the inverters have?

The microinverters are IP67 rated, making them fully protected against dust and powerful water jets. They are also CE and VDE certified and comply with standards such as EN 50549-1:2019, VDE-AR-N 4105:2018, and VFR2019.

How does communication with the monitoring system work?

The devices communicate wirelessly with the Hoymiles gateway (e.g., DTU-WLite S) via a stable sub-1G radio connection. This enables easy system monitoring and performance analysis – even remotely.

Is professional installation required?

We strongly recommend having the installation carried out by a certified electrician. This ensures that all safety and legal requirements are met.
